About International policy news

The world faces many global challenges. How the United States and its partners address them determines the future of prosperity, freedom, and stability for generations to come. The Center on Foreign Policy and International Studies at Georgetown University offers expert analysis and innovative solutions to these complex issues.

We examine the full range of global issues, from security and defense, to trade and economic relations, to humanitarian and development assistance. Our research covers a broad spectrum of the policymaking process and includes studies of comparative politics, political economy, history of ideas, international development and more.

The center brings together leading scholars and practitioners in international politics, business, law, public administration and more. Our researchers and students collaborate across disciplines and with government agencies, think tanks, nongovernmental organizations, and industry leaders to provide insight on critical issues in a globalized world.

Whether they are discussing nuclear proliferation, economic crisis in the Middle East or the fate of the European Union, our students and faculty are tackling big questions that matter to people around the globe. Their work helps inform the decisions of lawmakers, businesses, and citizens. This work also inspires the Great Decisions discussion program, where participants read a briefing book, watch a video series and meet in a Discussion Group to explore and debate America’s most important world affairs decisions.
